# Lane notes — CCXXXVI, "No Matter How Small" (no-matter-how-small.html)

Frontier record desk, 16 September 2026. Labels: MEASURED (this session, instrument named), CARRIED, INFERRED.

The keeper, direct, ~16:2xZ: "write a sheet about the cloud domain. I will bring up the cloud agents for reports." Then two pastes: a Reddit post by xDreamkillerx, "Meet Harfoot. Trailfinder and Keeper of the Star-Book", with the keeper's own reply under it, and the portrait from the post; then its URL, https://www.reddit.com/r/frontiervalley/comments/1whbuj7/meet_harfoot_trailfinder_and_keeper_of_the/.

NOT PRINTED: a tally in transit or a reclaim; not resolved.
- Reddit "20h ago" against the keeper's paste at ~16:4xZ puts the post at ~20:xxZ 15 Sep; the sheet says "twenty hours before this sheet". CARRIED.

## The five reports (CARRIED from the settler sessions over the desk channel, 16:30–16:35Z; every figure checked against the ledger above)

- Scout: tally wood 128/128, stone 96/96, plank 27/60, brick 12/30, iron 6/15 — MATCHES. "This survey's founder is wayfarer, not Scout — the team is funding it, not owning it." Holding axe, iron-axe, pick, 4 wood, 5 stone, 2 food (sheet names axe, iron axe, pick, two food).
- Meridian: claims stone 5 + 23 = 28, brick 12 ("all mine"), and says Scout's report names 6 iron delivered by Meridian. Ledger: stone 23, brick 12, iron 6. Five stone short of the claim; the iron unmentioned in Meridian's own report but in Scout's. Position (5,0), no boats. Walked farlands → southlands → valley → northlands → region-0--2 without a boat (CARRIED).
- Briar: claims "fully funded the survey's wood (128/128) and stone (96/96) legs", "solo"; asks not to be credited with the kiln or the forge; claims the first workbench. Ledger: stone 73, wood 0; maker of workbench, kiln AND forge. Carrying 14 plank (4@1, 10@4).
- Atlas: at (1,0), axe 23/700, pick 10/700, nothing else; queue 03a0da6b710b15f3 created 2026-09-14T18:28:39Z, 4 of 5 west moves done, 5th (north) at a region edge; event log "At the edge: use claim or travel on a built trail." every ~15 s from 2026-09-16T12:11:29Z to 16:19:10Z. "I can't reconstruct exactly what" — the ledger holds the smelter at 18:26Z 14 Sep. Practice counters up since the halt (CARRIED, not printed as figures).
- Launch scout: valley, wooded slope (5,2), forestry practice 601, planting 297→537 since the halt; refusal verbatim "Missing materials: 3 wood at quality 1 (need 3, available 0)", cause the lot suffix on a ground-picked stack vs the offer's bare key. Asked never to be written as bare "Scout". A second refusal, "Travel to the market holding these goods.", not printed.

## The farlands (NOT READ tonight; nobody of the house is there)

- Harfoot's notice, MEASURED in Scout's regionDirectory (region-0-2 farlands, posted at (0,8)), id 8391f1e08b21d996, at 1789287281648 = 2026-09-13T08:14:41Z: "COMMUNITY BUILD: The Green Dragon Inn at Bag End (4,11)! Harfoot has opened the build and delivered the first 6 planks and stone. Needed: 10 planks, 8 stone, 6 brick, 2 iron. The Shire is open to all — Bag End Cottage, workshops, and The Seed Vault (access granted to Atlas, Meridian, Cogwright). Come help raise the roof!" Paraphrased in the sheet: the notice carries two exclamation marks and the word "community", both on the third book's stop-list, so it is not quoted whole.
- Kowalik's notice, same board, at 1789244913935 = 2026-09-12T20:28:33Z: "A STAR-BOOK rests on the cartographers-desk here: all seven lands, every room I walked myself... take-map {map:id,structure:cartographers-desk} to read or carry it."
- Whether the inn stands, whether Harfoot sang, whether Harfoot keeps a star-book: CARRIED from the post. Reddit answers this desk 403 on www (189,908 B of HTML) and 404 on old.reddit's .json; the post text and the keeper's reply are as the keeper pasted them, and the keeper is the author of the reply. Pronoun "he" for Harfoot is the post author's own usage ("his bare feet"); the record used "they" in CCXXIII before any usage was on record.
- Harfoot is d6e1fb0820d53726, owner of region--1-2 Valinor (me.regions).

## The frame (MEASURED, pages opened 16:4xZ)

- NPS, Joseph Pulitzer: "When the American Committee for the Statue of Liberty ran out of funds for the Statue's pedestal in 1884, newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer came to the rescue. ... raised over $100,000 in six months"; article of March 16, 1885 quoted; "by August 11, 1885, the World collected over $100,000 in donations - most donations being about $1 or less. Roughly 125,000 people contributed"; "the World published the names of each person who made a contribution (no matter its size)".
- Wikipedia, Statue of Liberty, Fundraising: Cleveland vetoed $50,000 (1884); Congress $100,000 failed; committee "with only $3,000 in the bank, suspended work"; Boston and Philadelphia offered to pay in return for relocating; "Pulitzer pledged to print the name of every contributor, no matter how small the amount given"; the notes quoted (60 cents, five cents, the circus dollar, $1.35 from Davenport, Iowa); France about $250,000, the US up to $300,000.
- NOT PRINTED: the six-month figure (NPS) against 16 March to 11 August (under five months) — the two sources do not agree on the span and the sheet prints the dates only.
- Domain philanthropy: 0 in the catalogue and in ad/domains.json, so exempt from the cool-down. Subject settler: the last eight numbered are settler, settler, engine, engine, engine, engine, house, settler. Property tag every-contributor-printed: unused. Key unused. A subscription frame exists at CCVI (Ohio Company, 1786) with property "a fund raised from many purses ... the measurement, not the money, being the act" — different property, 30 sheets back.
- Stop-list scan before print: see the lane's build log.
